Yellow has been around for a while now and I find myself looking at everything yellow. As a bit of a digital girl, I came across a new website call Polyvore, where you can see outfits styled by other people. An outfit popped up and I found myself going, love, love, love, which has a little bit of a Jackie O look. This got me thinking about how to use black and yellow in a living room, which can be a classic combination and cheery colour to make you smile. This is also about dialling this combination up or down and deciding on how much of a yellow dash you would like to add. Do what makes you smile.
Let’s start with black and white
As this is a strong scheme, a strong sofa is a must with a bit of character too. The yellow will soften this look.
There’s a bit more white with this lovely rug, which will balance the strong look of the sofa. Really like the graphic look to this rug.
3. Black and white striped cushion
Classic and stylish cushion that will always be in style.
4. Yellow grid cushion
This yellow cushion’s simple grid look, is making me smile, smile, smile.
5. Yellow side table
What a better place to put your cocktail on than this very sunny round table.
6. Yellow crystal ball table lamp
The glass ball lets more light in, as well as the lamp shade giving us some serious yellow envy.
7. Rothko art
This is just about adding a statement piece of art and the Tate lets you buy a Rothko screen print – oh my. Perfect for adding some warm yellow.
